UNION, WV --- Geraldine "Gerry" O'Brien Shaver, age 82, of Union, WV, passed away Monday evening January 11, 2016 at the home of her daughter, following a short illness. She was born November 26, 1933 at Ronceverte, WV a daughter of the late John Lewis and Laura Fink O'Brien, Sr.
She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church and a retired employee of West Virginia Power Company where she was known by her coworkers as "Mama Gerry".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cleveland Shaver on September 4, 2015; two infant sons, John David and Gregory Shaver; 2 sisters, Helen and Madeline O'Brien; 3 brothers, Kenneth, John, Jr. and Jerry O'Brien.
Surviving are: one son, Karl "Chuck" Shaver and wife Leisha of Alderson, WV; one daughter, Laura Rice and husband Johnathan of Union, WV; five grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Shaver of Alderson, WV, Kaitlyn "Kaitie" Danielle Shaver of Alderson, WV, Margaret Anne Rice of Union, WV, William Cleveland "Will" Rice of Union, WV, and Karlei Mae Shaver of Alderson, WV; and several loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Union United Methodist Church in Union with Pastor Frank Naglic officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery at Union, WV. Friends may call Friday, January 15, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to services.
