GAP MILLS, WV --- Gerald Austin "Griff" Griffith, age 84, of Gap Mills, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 15, 2022 surrounded by his family. Gerald was born August 20, 1937, the son of the late Marcella Bradley. Gerald graduated from Gap Mills High School. He worked at the Newport News Shipyard, Newport News, VA 1963-1968 and moved back to West Virginia and was an employee of WESTVACO for 37 years. He was a member of the Gap Mills United Methodist Church. He loved farming, gardening, and the love of horses and dogs. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

He is survived by his children, Karen Griffith Dillon of Gap Mills, WV, Debbie Griffith Legg (Larry), of Dawson, WV, Tammy Griffith Oldfield (Philip) of New Castle, VA, and  Darren Griffith (Melissa) of Gap Mills, WV; grandchildren, Jennifer Dillon Cornwell (Woody), Christopher Dillon, Brittany Legg, Peighton Griffith, and Paxton Griffith; great-grandchild, Austin Cornwell; sister, Dotty Carter (Richard) of Sweet Springs, WV, and Sue Brown of Newport News, VA; brother, Ryland Bradley (Donna) of Covington, VA, also, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special caregivers, Melissa Griffith, Caressa Hall, Tonya Woods, Katie Crislip, Rick and Freda Bostic, Eric South, and especially his four children; his special companions, his dogs, Maggie and Chase.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV, with Pastor James Hylton and Freddie Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV. The family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Rick Bostic, Jan Batten, Gary Winebrimmer, Gary Canterbury, Rich Carter, Eric South, Rick Arthur, and Ricky Edwards will serve as Pallbearers. Russell Jones, Ronnie Neel, and Gene Arthur will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
