ZENITH, WV—Gerald Dean Clarkson, 76, of Zenith, WV passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2023.

Born November 17, 1946, in Zenith, WV, he was the son of the late Maxwell and Sylvia Clarkson.

Gerald retired from B.F. Goodrich in Union, WV after 33 years of service.

Gerald valued hard work and he strongly believed in a good and honest work ethic. He enjoyed hunting, farming, but most of all spending time with his six grandchildren.

Gerald never met a stranger, loved telling stories, and making people laugh. He loved to cook for his family, always making sure their bellies were full.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years Jeannie Porterfield Clarkson, daughter Joy Clarkson Dunbar and husband Mike of Union, WV; son Jeff Clarkson and wife Chelsea of Zenith, WV. Six very special grandchildren who affectionately knew him as "Pappy" and "PawPaw" those include: Brittany, Kylie "Kallie" and Lindsey Dunbar; Judd, Mac, Cora "Clora" Clarkson. One sister Janet Karnes; four brothers Gene Clarkson (Jenny); Richard Clarkson (Barbara); Kelvin Clarkson (Darlene); Dennis Clarkson; and a multitude of dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 14, 2023, at Groves-Mann Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Anderson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately after in Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV.

He will be laid to rest by several special friends; BJ Capaldo, Larry Case, Roger Johnson, Bill Harrison, Michael Garcia, Shawn Ballard, Stacey Clarkson, and CW Patton. J.T. Karnes and Ronnie Neel will serve as honorary pallbearers.
