SINKS GROVE, WV --- George Macil Jenkins, age 83 of Sinks Grove, WV passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Brier Nursing Home in Lewisburg, WV, surrounded by his family at his bedside, following a short illness. Born May 25, 1935 in Monroe County, WV, he was the son of the late George Jackson and Nanny Florence Dunbar Jenkins. "Macil" as most people knew him, was a farmer most of his life. He worked for Edwin Sibold for almost 40 years. He was a hard worker, funny, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He started working in his teens for local farmers. Helping them with hay, milking, or whatever they needed help with. Macil loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes and potatoes, and he always looked for the biggest potato.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Jenkins; sisters, Jettie Jenkins Hylton and her husband Edgar, Merle Jenkins Burns and her husband Charles, Annette Jenkins Elmore and her husband James, and Corrine Jenkins Lephew and her husband Frank; brother-in-law, Carl Lephew husband to Thelma.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Loretta Cook Jenkins of 57 years; one daughter, Sue Armentrout and husband Virgil of Union, WV; two sons, David Jenkins of Fairlea, WV and Mark Jenkins and wife Wanneh of Georgia; three grandchildren, Danielle, Savanneh, and Roman Jenkins; one sister, Thelma Jenkins Lephew; one sister-in-law, Mary Sue Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. David Warf officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway, WV. Friends may call Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
