Obituary

UNION, WV --- Gary "Wayne" Weikle, age 72, of Union, WV, went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 10, 2022 at his home following an extended illness. He was born at Sarton, WV on April 20, 1950, a son of the late Henry Howard and Wanda Mae Weikle. Wayne was a strong Christian man who loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Mt. Alexander Church at Sarton, WV where he was the Church Superintendent, a trustee, taught the young people's class, and sang with the Mountain Echo's music group. Wayne retired from the West Virginia Department of Transportation, and he was a former employee of Monroe Motor Sales and Monroe Service Center in Union.

Surviving is his wife of forty years, Susan Wickline Weikle; three children, Jeremy W. Weikle and wife Jenny, Andrea Leann Weikle and companion, John Woodrum, and Tressia "Nikki" Bennett and husband Heath. Four grandchildren, Griffin and Brody Weikle, and Garrett and Gavin Bennett; one brother, Chuck Weikle and wife Gail; very special mother-in-laws, Sue Wickline and Margaret "Maggie" Parker; brother-in-laws, James Wickline, Brian Wickline and wife Beth; sister-in-law, Anita McClure and husband Michael; nephews, Ben Weikle and wife Kerrie Ann, Dylan Wickline, Craig, Nick, and Justin Walker; nieces Katie Wickline and Lacey Wallace and husband Sam; Several great-nieces and nephews; and a host of many friends and his church family who he loved very much " Fly high my angel until we meet by the river"

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Terry Utterback officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

In keeping with Wayne's wishes, following the services on Sunday, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried in Mt. Alexander Church Cemetery privately by his family at a later date.
