QUINTON, VA --- Eugene Lee Ballard, age 91, of Quinton, VA, formerly of Union, WV, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 8, 1932 at Covington, VA, he was the son late Oscar Lee and Mrytle Baker Ballard of Monroe County, WV. Eugene was a 1949 graduate of Greenville High School. Following graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked a career as a pipefitter and retired from Union Carbide in Charleston, WV. Eugene was a devout Christian. He was a member of the Mt. Alexander Church at Sarton where he also taught Sunday School for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Cassie Yvonne Ballard; one sister, Mary Catherine Lively; and one brother, Oscar Leroy Ballard. Survivors include, four sons, Noah and Tina Ballard of Quinton, VA, Jeff and Teressa Ballard of Mill Springs, NC, Bruce Ballard of Wayside, WV, and Mathew Ballard of Richmond, VA; one sister, Betty Ballard Comer of Lindside, WV; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Mt. Alexander Church at Sarton, WV, with Pastor Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Alexander Church Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations in memory of Eugene be made to the Mt. Alexander Church.
