LEWISBURG, WV --- Ethel Pauline Dowdy Fisher Hylton, age 95, of Lewisburg, WV surrounded by family, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 after spending 21 years battling the frontlines of many health issues at the Briar Nursing Home in Lewisburg. Pauline was born July 13, 1920 at Union, WV. She was the daughter of the late Everod James and Rosa Bostic Dowdy. Pauline was retired from the Hanover Shoe Factory in White Sulphur Springs, WV. She also enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marshall Fisher and her second husband, Willie Ivan Hylton; also preceding her in death one son, James P. Fisher; three brothers, Jessie James Dowdy, Robert Lee Dowdy, and Richard Hayes Dowdy; one sister, Mary Bennett; and two daughter-in-laws, Betty Fisher and Opal Fisher. Survivors include, three sons, Frank Fisher and wife Francis of Greensboro, NC, Donnie Fisher of Lewisburg, WV, and Willie J. Hylton and wife Patty of Frankford, WV; two daughters, Polly Burns and husband Bill of Ronceverte, WV and Sue Martin and husband Roger of Union, WV; four sisters, Anna Mae Sears of Union, WV, Reddi Allen of Union, WV, Betty Cochran of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Louise Spangler of Union, WV; Also left to cherish her memories are 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery at Union, WV. Friends may call Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
