SECOND CREEK, WV --- On September 17, 2020 Emma L. Dempsey gained her wings and went home to be with the Lord. She was born July 28, 1934 in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Forrest L. Dempsey; her mother, Stella Jones Unger of Cleveland, OH; her father, Issac Jones of Kentucky; one sister, Judy Dempsey and her husband Andrew of Second Creek, WV; two brothers, Frank Jones and wife Betty of Kentucky and Oscar Jones of Kentucky. One grandson, Danny Vance and one great-grandson, Dakota Ward.

Surviving are her eight children, Shirley Vance of Caldwell, Eloise "Marti" Overman and Perry McDowell of Second Creek, WV, Cindy Hubbard and Lewis of Second Creek, WV, Patty Green and Ronnie of Gap Mills, WV, Donald Dempsey of Second Creek, WV, Stella Morgan and Danny of Ronceverte, WV, Linda Dempsey of Caldwell, WV, and Effie Dempsey of Second Creek, WV; Many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends; Cousins, Ruth Ann Bashart and Family of Syracuse, NY; and Alma Hurd and Family of Limestone, NY; half-sister, Alice Corbin and Family of Limestone, NY.

Emma was a member of the Highland Park Community Church where she sang every Sunday. She was retired from the Asbury Post Office where she worked for many years.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastors Freddie Bostic and Don Trent officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery at Highland Park, WV. The Family will receive friends Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
