Obituary

ROCK CAMP, WV --- Elmer Lee Galford, age 72, of Rock Camp, WV, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA following a short illness. He was born November 26, 1947 at Gap Mills, WV and was the son of the late Price and Thelma Hudnall Galford. Elmer was a graduate of Gap Mills High school and was also a graduate of the West Virginia State Police Academy. Elmer worked a long career in law enforcement. He served as a City Officer, Deputy Sheriff, and two terms as Sheriff of Monroe County. Following his retirement in law enforcement, Elmer and his wife Katie owned and operated Galford's Country Store at Pickaway for many years. Elmer was a farmer and raised beef cattle on their family farm at Rock Camp.  He always enjoyed helping others and was always willing to help out those in the community any way he could. He currently served as the President of the Lindside Volunteer Fire Department, he was a charter member and current President of the Rock Camp/ Wikel Ruritan Club, and he was also the current President of the Monroe County Republican Club. Elmer loved his family dearly; especially the apple of his eye, his grandson Kash, whom he often referred to as "little man".

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Galford. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Katie Craig Galford of Rock Camp, WV; one son, Kevin Galford and wife Keri of Rock Camp, WV; one grandson, Kash Galford of Rock Camp, WV; brothers, Quince Galford of Gap Mills, WV, James Galford and wife Martha of Gap Mills, WV, Ernie Galford and wife JoAnn of Union, WV, Roger Galford and wife Wanda of Greenville, WV, Dennis Galford and wife Bonnie of War Ridge, WV, Henry Galford and wife Robin of Foster, WV, Elvin Galford and wife Karen of Gap Mills, WV, and Melvin Galford and wife Karen of Narrows, VA; sisters, Glenna Wiley and husband Maynard of Gap Mills, WV and Barbara Fisher and husband Bobby of Gap Mills, WV; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Ballard-Harvey Cemetery at Rock Camp, WV. The Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Family requests memorial donations be made in honor of Elmer's memory to the Lindside Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 156 Lindside, WV 24951. Quince Galford, Elvin Galford, Larry Burwell, Jim Bennett, Danny Lucas, and Chad Parker will serve as Pallbearers.
