Obituary

WAITEVILLE, WV – It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Elizabeth "Lize" J. Johnson, our beloved Wife, Mother and Grammy, passed away peacefully at her home of 33 years, in Waiteville, West Virginia on April 1, 2026, surrounded by her adoring family.

She was born on October 12, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York and later settled in Sea Bright, New Jersey, after meeting and marrying the love of her life, Kenneth "Tommy" T. Johnson, where they happily raised their family. Their devotion to one another endured for 63+ years and was filled with love and happiness and creating cherished memories with, and for, their children.

Anyone that had ever met her would most certainly attest that she was as feisty as she was loving, caring, passionate, fun, and smart. She was a force to be reckoned with if anyone crossed those she loved. Nothing made her happier than hosting family and friends and warmly welcoming them into our home at any time. She was an accomplished artist and crafter, amazing cook and baker, gardener, and an avid fan of the KC Chiefs, WV Mountaineers and Nascar racing and loved all things Christmas and having her toes in the sand at the beach.

She was predeceased by her mother, Mae Hutton, her son, Kenneth T. Johnson Jr., and her brother, James Hutton. In addition to her husband Tommy, she is survived by her son, Thomas Paulin (Kathleen), daughter, Teresa Miller (Paul), daughter, Khristi Jacobs (Rich), daughter, Leslie Johnson, daughter-in-law Michele Stevenson, grandchildren, Amanda Paulin- Bialy (Sherif), Patricia Strand (Brian), Rachael Benn (Dave), Reese Roberts, Kenneth Stevenson, Colin Miller, Kyli, Jake, Rebecca and Luke Jacobs and several great grandchildren.

Soar high with the angels. Until we meet again; we will be loving and missing you forever.

A visitation will be held at Groves-Mann Funeral Home, Union, WV, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM. Funeral services will follow at 4:00PM.
