UNION, WV --- Elizabeth (Betty) DesMarais, age 89 of Union, WV passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Springfield Center, Lindside, WV. Born October 30, 1928 at Poughkeepsie, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Dora McCabe Scea. Mrs. DesMarais had been employed as a telephone operator and also as a cashier. She had the opportunity to live in several places throughout her lifetime. They include, Teaneck, NJ, Bergenfield, NJ, Boonville, NY, Emporia, VA, and most recent, Union, WV.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph DesMarais; and one brother, Donald Scea. Survivors include one son, Richard DesMarais of Union, WV; two special friends, Ruth DesMarais of Lexington, SC and Melissa Araway of Blackstone, VA; three grandchildren, Brian DesMarais and wife Lisa Marie of Boonville, NY, Colleen DesMarais of Irmo, SC, and Sharon DesMarais of Lexington, SC; eight great-grandchildren, (Brian) Joshua Wilcox, Michael DesMarais (Colleen) Jacob DesMarais, Liam DesMarais, Christopher DesMarais, and Joseph DesMarais, and Christian Knight of Richmond, VA (Sharon) Ashley DesMarais and Katelynn Manning; four step-grandchildren, Nicki Myrick and husband Stephen of Blacksburg, VA, Shannon Seward and husband Joey of Emporia, VA, Victoria Kitchen from Emporia, VA, and Aaron Kitchen and wife Nickole of Collinsville, VA; six step-great grandchildren, (Nikki) Johnathan and Braden Myrick, (Shannon) Zack and Aubrey Seward, (Victoria) Thomas and Tanner Kitchen.
