LEWISBURG, WV--- Edward "Ed" Allen Vass, Sr., age 76, of Lewisburg, WV passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, WV following a short illness. Born November 13, 1938 at Wayside, WV he was the son of the late Bradley Dunn and Clara "Frances" Allen Vass. Mr. Vass retired in 2000 from Davis Industries recycling Company as operations manager. He was also an electrician. Mr. Vass enjoyed farming, carpentry, and any other work he could do to help people. He was a loving and caring family man who always took time for his family and friends. He loved football and always cheered for the Redskins. Mr. Vass was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church at Wayside, WV.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Bradley Charlton Vass. Survivors include, his loving wife, Aileen Shelton Vass of Lewisburg, WV; three sons, Edward Vass, Jr. and wife Linda of Ronceverte, WV; James Vass and Fiancé Robyn Nease of Woodbridge, VA, and Doug Vass and wife Jill of Annandale, VA; four sisters, Joan Cooper of Birmingham, AL, Alice Vass and Charles O'Quinn of Springfield, VA, Sandra Gossett of Tennessee, and Peggy Crockett and husband Robert of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother, Jack Vass and wife Geraldine of Covington, VA; three grandchildren, Emma Vass of Ronceverte, WV, Lucy and Lucas Vass of Annandale, VA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Wayside United Methodist Church, Wayside, WV with Rev. Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery, Wayside, WV. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
