UNION, WV --- Edith Sibold Runyon, age 102, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Brier Nursing Home in Lewisburg, WV. Born November 23, 1915 at Keenan, WV, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Bertie H. Sibold. Edith was a 1933 graduate of Union High School. She was retired from the Greenbrier Hotel where she was a PBX operator. She was an active volunteer for Breast Cancer Awareness, a volunteer at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, a volunteer at the Rowan Home at Sweet Springs, the Red Cross, as well as other organizations. She was of the Christian Faith and she was an active member of the Union Chapter of the Eastern Star #122.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Runyon; a son, Robert L. Sibold; a grandson, Lance W. Lanum; two sisters, Annie Sibold and Eva Peters; eight brothers, Cecil, Osbie, Roy, Russell. Otis, Jessie, Dennis, and Joe Sibold. Survivors include her granddaughter, Betsy Wells and husband Steve of Semora, NC; one grandson, Michael Lanum and wife Andrea of Greensboro NC; two great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive, along with special friends, Roger and Edna Johnson, Judy Ratliff, and Becky Dixon.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Nancy Bulla officiating. Burial will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington, VA, with Pastor Bill Gilliland officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until service time. The Union Chapter of the Eastern Star #122 will conduct memorial services at the beginning of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Union Chapter of the Eastern Star #122 c/o Barbara Dunbar P.O.
