GREENVILLE, WV - Douglas A. Crone, age 63, of Greenville, WV, passed away unexpectedly
on Monday, July 18th, 2022 at his residence with his wife by his side. Born on May 23rd, 1959 in
Washington D.C., he was the son of Walter Crone of Union, WV, and the late Mary Onofrey
Crone. Doug was a retired Forensic Science Fingerprint Supervisor with the Miami-Dade Police
Department in Miami, FL, with 31 years of service. He loved living here in West Virginia - he was
an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed participating in competition shooting events and
was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society (S.A.S.S.). He was a man of faith and was
a member of the A.R.P. Presbyterian Church in Fairlea, WV. He is survived by his loving wife of
38 years, Margarita Cruz-Crone of Greenville, WV; one son, Brandon Douglas Crone and his
girlfriend, Lindsey Hummel of Monroe, OH; one daughter, Lissette Sousa and two
granddaughters, Kylie Mya Sousa and Ariana Star Wright of North Miami, FL; his father, Walter
Crone of West Virginia; one brother, Dwight Crone and wife Ronda of Maryland; two sisters,
Denise Corio and husband Joseph of Missouri, and Dana Pastro and husband Paul of West
Virginia; extended family in Florida, Puerto Rico, and other states; friends, colleagues, and
church family - all of whom he loved dearly.
In keeping with Doug's wishes, he was cremated, and a private viewing was held in his honor.
His cremains will be laid to rest at the Miami-Dade Memorial Park Cemetery in Miami, FL, at a
