ZENITH, WV – Dorothy Alice Wilson Shires, age 85, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born March 22, 1939, in Second Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joe Buster and Janet H. Burns Wilson.

Dorothy was of the Christian faith and worked as a Teacher's Aide for Monroe County Schools. She enjoyed her retirement with her beloved cats. She loved getting out and going on walks when she was able.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. "Herbie" Shires. Survivors include her siblings, Freda J. Wilson and companion Christopher Mohl of Hillsdale Road, Union, Velma Bostic and husband O'Dell of Union, and Wayne Wilson of Huntersville, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at the Crosier Cemetery in Zenith, WV. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Peyton Hospice House (1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901).
