GAP MILLS, WV --- Dorothy Arthur Hepler, age 89 of Gap Mills, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born July 24, 1929 at Sweet Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Peral Faudree Arthur. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved caring for her family dearly. She had worked previously as a cook at the Andrew S. Rowen Nursing Home at Sweet Springs, WV. She enjoyed her gardening, sewing, and cooking. Dorothy was always wanting to help people in and around her community. She was a lifelong member and past Sunday School teacher of Cokesbury United Methodist Church at Sweet Springs. She loved her church family and she always enjoyed making apple butter at the church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Hepler; three sisters, Goldie Kirk, Glenna Arthur Wickline, and Reba Baker; two brothers, Raymond and Ledford Arthur; one niece, Linda Marie Galford Arthur; and one nephew, Rodger Lee Arthur. Survivors include, one son, Bernie Arthur and wife Rachel of Covington, VA; one nephew, Ledford Arthur and wife Rachel of Paint Bank, VA; two nieces, Charlotte Amos of Boones Mill, VA and Nancy Davis of Barbers Creek, VA; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Arthur and fiancé Amber Bess of Covington, VA and Bervie Reed Arthur of Covington, VA; one great-granddaughter, Chole Arthur of Covington, VA; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel at Union, WV with Pastor Wes Galford officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery at Sweet Springs, WV. Friends may call Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
