ALDERSON, WV --- Delores Gay Staten, age 61, of Alderson, WV passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at her residence following a sudden illness. Born May 20, 1959 in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of the late Evermont and Leona Browning Staten. Delores was a homemaker and had worked previously as a bar tender. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. She was also known to be a mechanic and a carpenter at times. Delores was a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church at Ronceverte. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Rhodes and Allie Lopez; two brothers, Evermont Staten, Jr. and Kelly Staten. Survivors include two brothers, Randy Staten and wife Donna of Second Creek, WV and Gary Staten and wife Cricket of Ronceverte, WV; seven sisters, Barbara Weikle and husband Don of Ronceverte, WV, Kathleen Hall of Ronceverte, WV, Gladys Staten of Fairlea, WV, Nancy Gunter of Oklahoma, Tamar Painter of Roanoke, VA, Teresa Niemi and husband Ed of Oregon, and Trula Surgeon and husband John of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In keeping with Delores's wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
