June 21, 1946 – July 8, 2023
ALDERSON, WV --- David "Bronco" Lane, age 77, of Alderson, WV, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV. Born June 21, 1946 at Clintwood, VA, he was the son of the late Ted and Mattie Mullins Lane. Bronco was known by many people, and he never met a stranger. He was a hard worker and was a retired truck driver. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and camping every chance he got to go. He had a great passion for singing and playing his guitar for his family and friends. He loved his family with all of his heart and was proud of each of them, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Roberta Miller, Elizabeth Elston, and Louis Mullins; one brother, Robert Lane; and one son-in-law, Golden Vance. Survivors include his loving wife Patty Longanacre Lane (Nanny) of Fort Springs, WV; Children, Theresa Vance of Union, WV, and David Ray Lane and wife Dana of Lindside, WV; six grandchildren, Chris Vance and Traci Deskins of Fort Springs, WV, Deborah (Princess) and Kyle Olsen of Beckley, WV, Shyanne Lane (yiyi) of Moncove Lake, WV, Samantha Vance and James Reed of Lindside, WV, Dusten Vance and Gracie Morgan of Union, WV, Susan Lane (Liza Jane) and Tyler French of Peterstown, WV; four great-grandchildren, Sadie Vance, Layla Payne, Tatum Olson, and Colter Dunbar; two sister-in-laws, Kathy Longanacre and Sheila Longanacre; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the services, in honoring of Bronco's wishes, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried in the family cemetery at a later date.
