UNION, WV --- Clyde "Bill" Ellis Hylton, age 86, of Union, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Born February 17, 1935 in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Dewey Kyle and Clarice Whitlock Hylton. Bill was a good friend to many, and always greeted with a smile. He was a retired truck driver. Bill enjoyed his antique tractors and collecting guns. On pretty days, he would often ride his old Willys Jeep on the back roads to enjoy the country scenery. Bill loved his family dearly. He also loved his church family and was a member of the Bruffey United Methodist Church at Hollywood, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Eugene, Cecil, Marvin, and Dorris "Boots" Hylton; and one sister, Gladys Hylton. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Evelyn Bowyer Hylton of Union, WV; one son, Ric Hylton and wife Carol of Roanoke, VA; one daughter, Vickie Pickering and husband Gary of Union, WV; one brother, Denny Hylton and wife Donna of Hollywood, WV; two sisters, Gracie Hylton of Hollywood, WV and Faye Scripak of Florida; two grandchildren, Lance Pickering and wife Heather of Crawley, WV and Erica Kessinger of Altoona, PA.
A memorial service to honor Bill's life will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Don Trent and Pastor Ella Dorsey officiating. The Family will receive friends Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service. The Family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Bill to the Bruffeys United Methodist Church at Hollywood, WV. Due to the regulations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are recommended.
