Charles Steven
Wilson
October 13, 1954 – January 19, 2024
UNION, WV --- Charles Steven Wilson, age 69, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his home in Union, WV, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 13, 1954, in Union, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Edward "Pete" Wilson and Judith Jackson Wilson.
Steve was a retired bridge and materials inspector for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He also was an EVOC Driver for Union Rescue Squad and White Sulphur Springs Rescue Squad. He was a Christian and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Red Sulphur Springs, WV. Steve truly enjoyed farming and gardening, from sheep and horses to cattle, hay production and finally his prized flower beds. His green thumb was only surpassed by his humility, kindness, and willingness to help others. Never knowing a stranger, Steve was one who would quite literally give anything he had to help someone in need. He truly enjoyed nothing more than to spoil his three grandchildren and all of his "adopted" children and grandchildren.
In addition to his father Pete, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Cary Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years Pamela Michelle Wilson; a son Paul Wilson and wife Crystal of Greenville WV. Siblings to include Gene Wilson and wife Linda of Union WV; Teresa Boggs of Lindside, WV; Charlene Boyce and husband David of Williamsburg, VA; Michael Wilson and wife Lena of Taylorsville, NC; Anita Hicks and husband Martin of New Bern NC; Jason Wilson and wife Sara of Cross Lanes, WV; Grandchildren, Colton Joe "Bubs" Wilson, McKinley Grace "Mackydo" Wilson and Taylynn Jane "Taterbug" Wilson all of Greenville, WV, and his beloved "Old Bat" Mother in Law Marcella Jane Smith of Flat Mountain WV. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and friends. Additionally the family would like to extend their gratitude to the Blue Ridge Cancer Center and staff Low Moor VA, Kathy Atkins RN, Kelly, Cheryl, Marcy, Elizabeth Hall PA, Dr. Matthew Skelton, and Dr. Ladier Canterbury.
In accordance with Steve's wishes he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Groves Mann Funeral Home, Union, WV, on Saturday January 27, 2024, at 5:00 pm for visitation with memorial service starting at 6:00 pm. Pastors Tim Spencer and Derrick Leslie to officiate.
In lieu of flowers Steve's wish was for donations to be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children (online at https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en or by mail: Shriners Children's, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394).
