WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS --- Charles Ervin Martin age 69, of West Memphis, Arkansas, formerly of Salt Sulphur, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital at Memphis, TN. Born October 19, 1949 at Sinks Grove, WV he was the son of Enace Ratliff Martin of Salt Sulphur, WV and the late Ira E. Martin. Charles was a simple hard-working man who loved his family dearly. He had worked many years as a truck driver and as a mechanic. He was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served his Country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy E. and Waconey Neil Martin and Charlie and Macy Taylor Ratliff; and step-father, Roy W. Martin. Survivors include his wife Kimberly Smith Martin of West Memphis, Arkansas; one daughter, Arcena Atwell of Lewisburg, WV; three brothers, Danny Joe Martin of Union, WV, Ira Dale Martin of Union, WV, and James Randy Martin and fiancé Tammy Jo Johnson of Union, WV; five sisters, Ruth Taylor and husband Lawrence of Clinton, IL, Judy Parker and husband Jack of Pickaway, WV, Sue Wilson and husband Jacky of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Kathy Kreiger and husband Gary of Sam Black, WV, and Tammy Pitzer and husband Herman of Frankford, WV; mother-in-law, Jane Kiers; two uncles, Robert Ratliff of Independence, OH and Harold Ratliff of Lindside, WV; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Wickline Cemetery at Zenith, WV where Military rites will be held to honor Charles by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. Family will serve as Pallbearers. Friends may call Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
