UNION, WV--- Charles "Charlie" Harold Johnson, age 84, of Union, WV formerly of Ashtabula, OH passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center Fairlea, WV. Born February 27, 1930 at Union, WV he was the son of the late Charlie and Olive Dunbar Johnson. Charlie had retired in Ashtabula where he was a metal fabricator. He was a lifelong farmer and had also worked at a saw mill in Ronceverte, WV. Charlie loved fishing and he especially enjoyed getting everyone together for a big fish fry. He loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlie was also a founding member of the Hillsdale Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Roy Johnson; two sisters, Rosie Grimmett and Opal Dunbar; and two son-in-laws, Randy Turner and Cory Evans. Survivors include his loving wife Lena Louise Dunbar Johnson of Union, WV; two sons, Charles Johnson, Jr. and wife Linda of Conneaut, OH and Claude Johnson of Ashtabula, OH; six daughters, Betty Philip of Ashtabula, OH, Brenda Reece and husband Ray of Rock Creek, OH, Barbara Jackson and husband Bob of Ashtabula, OH, Eva Turner of Ashtabula, OH, Elisa Bartone and husband Jim of Ashtabula, OH, and Elinda Evans of Ashtabula, OH; one sister, Anna Johnson of Peterstown, WV; grandchildren, Michael Philip, Ray Reece, Jr., Ryan Reece, Robbie Reece, Jeremy Reece, Melinda Bartone, Shelia Flotz, Crystal Hann, Ginger Gayadat, Jeff Jackson, Bryan Turner, Emily Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Curtis Johnson, Beth Johnson, and Cassey Johnson; great-grandchildren, Julie Philip, Nathaniel Philip, Chasity Reece, Kalie Reece, Duckie Reece, Austin Reece, Addison Reece, Ariel Reece, Alivia Reece, Janelle Reece, Acadia Reece, Lauren Reece, Trevor Bartone, Makayla Bartone, Larry Hann, Ashlea Clemens, Savian Gayadat, Gavin Flotz, and Collin Turner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Don Trent and Rev. David Deskins officiating. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery at Hollywood, WV, where the grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
