RICHMOND, VA Celia Kathryn Givens of Richmond, VA joined her beloved angels in Heaven on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, after an extended cancer illness. Born November 4, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Junior and Louise Givens of Keenan, WV. She is survived by her husband Jim Nederostek; son Frank Eric Parker and grandson Aiden Eric Parker of St. Albans, WV; daughter, Rita Christine Parker and grandchildren, Kyle Parker Few and Carley Jade Few of Gettysburg, PA. She is also survived by her two sisters, Peggy Grantham and husband Amon of Middleway, WV and Pam Echols and husband Larry of Gap Mills, WV; and six nieces and nephews.
She was a 1969 graduate of Union High School and later a Concord University graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Celia taught kindergarten and second grade for five years in the Charleston, WV area. She held various positions during her 28 years of service with YWCA and YMCA's throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. She retired in 2014 from the Charleston YMCA as executive director.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Dr. Jim Dawes officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Christian Church Cemetery, Keenan, WV. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. Friends may call Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 12:00 Noon until time of services.
