UNION, WV ---Cassie Yvonne Ballard passed away at home at the age of 79 on the 7th of July 2015 while surrounded by her loving family. Cassie was born to the late Noah and Bernice Newhouse of Charleston, WV, Feb 24, 1936. She was a devout Christian and her church membership included Mt. Alexander United Methodist of Sarton, WV and a former member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist in Charleston, WV. Cassie taught Sunday school at each of her churches. Outside of church Cassie was a homemaker and had a passion for quilting; each of her quilts blessed the world with beauty.
Cassie was preceded in death by her brother Allen Newhouse and is survived by her husband of 62 years Eugene Ballard of Union, WV and four sons Noah and Tina Ballard of Quinton, VA; Jeffrey and Teressa Ballard of Mill Springs, NC; Bruce and Tina Ballard of Union, WV; Matthew Ballard of Orlando, FL. Cassie is also survived by her brother Ernest Newhouse and six sisters Catherine Fontana, Frances and David White, Dolly Garrett, Louise and Doug Paxton, Hilda and Roy Kelsey, Ella and Billy Moore, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of loving friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Mt. Alexander United Methodist Church at Sarton, WV with Rev. Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Alexander United Methodist Church Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers. Friends may call Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home in Union, WV from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Mt.
