Carmen Melinda
Johnson
March 19, 1959 – March 5, 2022
UNION, WV
--- Carmen Melinda Johnson -"Your hug meant the world Nobody else held me so tight Or made me feel so right No ones eyes shines so bright with love As my mom, who is now high above." -Tamsen Butler
It is with profound sadness that the family of Carmen Melinda Johnson, 62, of Union, announce that she entered into the presence of the Lord March 5th, 2022.
Carmen was a kind and gentle person and one of her greatest gifts was her ability to connect with people. Through her encouraging words, smiles and hugs, anyone who met her knew instantly how big her heart was and that they were incredibly loved. Carmen was a talented baker and when you took the first bite of her red velvet cake, it tasted like melting from the inside out-pure comfort, you were home. She found happiness in connecting with the Earth and found beauty in everything from snow-capped mountains wrapped in misty haze to small unassuming dandelions swaying in a field of brilliant green grass. She appreciated good music and had the sweetest voice. Depending on her mood, you may have heard her singing along to anything from gospel to Pink Floyd. She was a woman of faith and she had infinite wisdom and sound advice for any situation. Carmen had many ways that she enjoyed her time but what brought her the most joy was being "Mama." She devoted her life to her three children who were her entire world. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories, a legacy of unconditional love and the grateful hearts of all who knew her and who will always cherish her beautiful spirit.
Carmen will be lovingly remembered by her children; Amber Hickman and her husband Wade Hickman, Chris Durham, Melinda Hoke and her husband Brian Hoke and their daughter Amelia Hoke, her parents; James and Mabel Johnson, her siblings; James and Deanna Johnson, Robert and Betty Johnson and Sarah Johnson McKinley, and her nephews; Evan Johnson and Levi McKinley.
In keeping with her wishes, Carmen will be cremated. A park bench will be placed in loving memory of her in Watoga State Park, one of her favorite places. A celebration of her life will be scheduled at the park in late Spring. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to her memorial fund by contacting Amber Hickman by emailing
