SINKS GROVE, WV --- Bransford "Banny" Amonett Burwell, age 88, of Sinks Grove, WV, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born August 8, 1934 at Sinks Grove, WV, he was the son of the late Richard K. and Mary Weikle Burwell. Following high school, Banny went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of faithful service. Following his military career, he worked and retired with 20 years' service from Voca Corporation in security at the Greenbrier Center in Lewisburg, WV. Banny owned and operated a small engine repair shop as well. He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends dearly. He was an avid farmer, hunter, and fisherman. He also enjoyed going on family vacations to the beach where he would feast on blue crabs and Krispy Kreme Donuts- two of his favorite food selections. Banny loved bowling and was a member of the "Spare-Me" Bowling Team in Lewisburg. He also loved his church family and was an Elder at the New Lebanon Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at Pickaway, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth May Hughes Burwell; son, Van Vanstavern; and sister, June McFall. Survivors include one son, Richard "Rick" Burwell and wife Brenda of Sinks Grove, WV; one daughter, Beverly Hunter and husband Jim of Sinks Grove, WV; grandchildren, Kristina Burwell, Jessica Madara and husband Jonathan, Joseph Hunter and wife Tenli, Sean Burwell and wife Darami, and Madison Burwell; bonus grandchildren, Brittany Nichols and husband Logan, Biancha Barfield, and Michael Sharp; six great-grandchildren; 6 and one-half (one on the way) bonus great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Pastor David Deskins officiating. officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway, WV. The family will receive friends Monday, March 20, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 12:00 Noon.
