UNION, WV --- Bobby Gene Dunbar, age 78, of Union, WV passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Springfield Center, Lindside, WV following a long illness. Born at Hillsdale, WV February 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Ira Anderson and Geraldine Caldwell Dunbar. Bob worked many years for Fullen Fertilizer, as a truck driver. He later worked for Moutaineer Farm Center. He was well liked and respected by the farmers that he would spread lime for. He loved to talk to people and always had a big smile. He was also well liked by the staff and residents of Springfield Center. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended the New Hope Tabernacle Church in Union, and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Bennett and a brother Guy Dunbar.
Survivors include, his wife Mary Ellen Wykle Dunbar of Union, WV, who he married June 16, 1958; one son, Ricki Dunbar and wife Vickie of Union, WV; two daughters, Patricia Dunbar Allen and husband Jimmy of Union, WV and Jackie Dunbar Plumley and husband Ken of Willow Bend, WV; one brother, Sammy Dunbar and wife Norma of Union, WV; four grandchildren, Joshua Dunbar and wife Melinda of Greenville, WV, Tina Dunbar Crawford and husband Rob of Union, WV, Travis Allen and wife Christina of Union, WV, and Justin Allen of Union, WV; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Meagan, Ryan, Ivan, and Andrew; he also leaves two "Pet Friends", Jenny and Tiger; The Family would like to give many thanks to Springfield Center Staff for all their love, care, and attention.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Jimmy Allen and Pastor Larry Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Union, WV. Joshua Dunbar, Travis Allen, Justin Allen, Chris Gill, Rob Crawford, and Jamie Mann will serve as Pallbearers.
