Obituary

Bobbie Jean Brooks, age 77, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Seneca Trail Healthcare Center in Lewisburg, WV. Born June 25, 1949, on Gates Road in Union, WV, she was the daughter of the late Graham and Luverne Foster South. Bobbie Jean was a 30-year resident of the Greenbrier Manor, which later became the Seneca Trail Healthcare Center. She was the longtime standing President of the Resident Council and viewed everyone there as her family. She loved people and always enjoyed making those around her laugh. She was a Christian and could often be found singing and praising the Lord. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all those who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Tara Capaldo.

Survivors include her daughter, Angie Powell and husband Dean of Alderson, WV; grandchildren, Eric Gwinn of Alderson, Emily Powell of Fort Springs, and Joseph Powell and wife McKenzie of Lewisburg; great grandchildren, Aydon, Canyon, Lydia, Alex, Paytlin, and Brody; one brother, Graham South Jr. and wife Debbie of Union, WV; and two sisters, Sharon Hedrick and husband Roger of Ronceverte, WV, and Connie South of Roanoke, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Bill Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Private burial will be held following the services.
