UNION, WV – Beulah Mae South, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Greenbrier Valley Hospital in Ronceverte, WV, surrounded by her family. Born August 20, 1931, in Hollywood, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Florence Hoke Lucas.

Beulah was a people person who loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church when she was able. She enjoyed good food and traveling to see all different kinds of scenery. She loved embroidering, quilting, coloring, word searches, and going shopping with her girls. One of her favorite things to do was look out the window or sit on her porch and watch the world go by. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Samuel South Sr.; her son, Jessie Samuel South Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Helen Begley of Daleville, VA, Gracie Smith and husband Doug of Chrisney, IN, Mary Dunn and husband Marshall of Peterstown, WV, Millie Martin and husband Tommy of Gap Mills, WV, and Dale South and wife Drema of Union, WV; one sister, Kate Miller of Union, WV; her brother, Arnold Lucas; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the New Lebanon Cemetery in Pickaway, WV. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
