UNION, WV--- Betty Ann Canterbury Sims, age 85 of Union, WV passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Brier Nursing Home in Fairlea, WV. Born November 14, 1932 at Union, WV she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Clarinda Ann Wilson Canterbury. Mrs. Sims enjoyed helping people and was a loving and caring homemaker. Earlier in life, she had attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church at Gates, WV for several years. More recently, she had been attending the Union United Methodist Church in Union, WV.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Sims and three brothers, Edwin, Monte, and John Henry Canterbury.
Survivors include, one daughter, Judith Ann Oulad Chikh of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son, James Sims of Dublin, VA; one brother, Willie S. "Bill" Canterbury of Dublin, VA; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gates, WV. Friends may call 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the funeral home.
