PICKAWAY, WV – Betty Jean Lively, age 83, passed away surrounded by her children on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at her home in Pickaway, WV. Born July 5, 1942, in Ballengee WV, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Taylor Sims and Lula Belle Meadows Sims Clarkson.

Betty was a wife, Mother, LPN, and Nunnie to her grand and great grandchildren. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1960. She loved her nursing career in geriatrics, old westerns, and her Bible word searches.  Throughout her life she had many skills. She was baker, seamstress, wedding planner, and organized Camp Nunnie for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband of 57 years, Malcolm T. Lively; a sister, Joann Griffith; and son in law, Christopher "Jake" Davis.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dan Lively (Maria), Paula Walters (Joey), Sharon Lively (Abdul) of Pickaway, and Melanie Austin (Darryl) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; brother, Delbert Sims (the late Patricia Sims), of Greensboro NC; sister, Dreama (Gray) Porterfield of Greenville, WV; brother-in-law, Larry Griffith (the late Joann) of White Sulphur Springs, WV; sister-in-law, Madeline Lively Ballard (the late Harold Lively), and brother-in-law, Paul Lively (the late Kathleen Lively) of Oak Hill WV; grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, Katelynn, Elias, Daisy, Tillie, and Dayton; and nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Per Betty's wishes, a graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ballengee, WV, with Pastor Todd Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Groves-Mann Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
