RONCEVERTE, WV – Betty Jo Burns, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Lewisburg Healthcare Center in Ronceverte, WV. Born October 10, 1952, in Union, WV, she was the daughter of the late Elba William and Louella Gray Bostic Lephew.

Betty was a member of the Second Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a very sociable person who enjoyed interacting and talking to people. She loved Elvis, dancing, cooking, and joking around with her family and friends, as she was always trying to pull a good prank on someone. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Thomas; her husband, Albert Burns; and siblings, Faye Lephew, Avery Lephew, Dorothy Elmore, Charles Lephew, and Richard Lephew.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Thomas of Ronceverte, WV, and Jason Thomas of Sinks Grove, WV; three grandchildren, Tayona Thomas, Jackson Thomas, and Roman Thomas; two brothers, Elby Lephew of Union, WV, and Tommy Lephew and wife Lois of Sinks Grove, WV; one sister, Linda Elmore and husband Kenny of Sinks Grove, WV; her first husband, Wayne Thomas of Sinks Grove, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In keeping with Betty's wishes, she will be cremated. Memorial services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor D.J. Deskins officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
