UNION, WV --- Bertha Ann Carter Reynolds, 76, of Union, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg, VA, after a short illness. Born April 19, 1947, in Ronceverte, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" and Etta Marie White of Union, and the late Martha Thomas of Alderson.
She graduated from Union High School and married the love of her life, Sonny Reynolds, in June 1965. She worked many years at Greenbrier Laundry in Ronceverte before going to work at Hecks Department Store, the Kmart, and ending her working career at the Deli at Ashley's IGA in Union. She was a member of the Fort Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Thomas. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Carl "Sonny" Reynolds; daughter, Cheryl Hawkins (Jim Whitis) of Ronceverte; sisters, Louise (Frank) Hiser of Fairlea, Shirley Thomas, Nancy (Dwyre) Baker, and Betty Morgan, all of Alderson; brothers, Rodger (Betty) Thomas of Alderson, Rodney (Natalie) Thomas of Texas, and Forrest Thomas of Alderson; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are her great friends, Brenda Walker of Union, Aaron Hill and family of Union, Bill and Pam Hensley of Sinks Grove, Becky Sharp of Union, and her Church Family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Fort Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg, WV, with Raymond Whitis, Dave Hicks, Caleb Hicks, John Fullen, Hunter Sherman, and Aaron Hill serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Fort Springs Missionary Baptist Church and also one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
