Anne Winston celebrated her 100th birthday on October 6th at the home of her daughter and son in law, Steve and Bobbie Cochran Cook of Sinks Grove, with her son and daughter in law Eric and Linda Winston, of Union, her other son Blix Winston and his wife Lucille, of Mt. Airy MD, and other family and friends.  She peacefully passed away on November 4th, among family and under the tender, loving care of Hospice at the Peyton House in Fairlea. Born in Stockholm, Sweden October 6, 1920, Anne traveled to England and Africa, before returning to Sweden, where she met Robert A. Winston, an American Navy pilot on assignment to deliver and test a squadron of American fighter planes donated to Finland.  She traveled alone from Stockholm at age 19 to America to marry him in 1940, and they raised 4 children and had many happy years together.  Years after her husband passed away in 1974, Anne returned to Sweden in 1995 and married Rolf Kjellberg, who she had known since childhood.  They had ll happy years together, and after he passed away, she returned to America in 2006 and lived with her daughter.  She loved her adopted country, and later in life, totally fell in love with wonderful West Virginia.  She was a great gardener, loved animals and nature, and was a loving mother and homemaker.  Both she and her husband taught Sunday school for many years.  Her extended family of two sons, a daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with many friends across the country and abroad, celebrated her reaching her goal of turning 100, with great joy and many loving memories.
