UNION, WV --- Anna Mae Dowdy Sears, age 91, of Union, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV. Born April 10, 1928 at Union, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Everod and Rosa Bostic Dowdy. Anna Mae was a beautiful and kindhearted lady. She was a caring and loving homemaker who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed many things throughout her life. Things such as, dancing and ballroom dancing, working in her garden and with her flowers, she loved her pets, and she really enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was well known for making her delicious jellies and her coconut pies. She would also make homemade ice-cream and homemade icing for her cakes. Anna Mae truly loved life and she loved the Lord. She read and studied her Bible regularly, and she was a member of the Union Memorial Baptist Church in Union, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garfield Sears, Sr.; three sons, James Garfield Sears, Jr., Ronald Charles Sears, and Billy Richard Sears; three daughters, Deborah Hylton, Helen Charlene Romine, and Sarah Ann Sears; one grandson, Josh Hylton; three brothers, Jessie, Robert, and Dickie; and two sisters, Pauline and Mary. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bostic and husband Roger of Lewisburg, WV and Darlene Gee and husband Jim of Pulaski, VA; three sisters, Reddie Allen of Union, WV, Louise Spangler of Union, WV, and Betty Cochran of White Sulphur Springs, WV; grandchildren, James, Melissa, Barbara Jo, Sheldon, Ronnie Jr., Samantha, Jody, Eric, Amy, Brian, and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Kiara, Allie, Sheldon, Jr., Maddie, and Quinn; great-great grandchild, Aidyn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV, with Pastor Ron Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Union, WV. Friends may call Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
