DAWSON, WV --- Alda Waid Smith, age 88, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Lori in Dawson, WV. Alda was born August 15, 1931, at Alvon, WV. She was the daughter of the late William E and Lena Whitman Waid. Alda was not only a loving mother and grandmother, but a devoted Christian. Throughout her entire life she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with everyone she met. She was a member of the Sinks Grove Baptist Church and also attended Lick Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Alda joins her loving husband of 57 years, John B Smith in heaven. Survivors include her children, Lori Fitzwater and husband Steve of Dawson, Wv; Kevin Smith and wife Cheryl; Phillip Smith and wife Barbara , Darrell Smith and wife Missy, Brenda Carty and husband JD, all of Frenchburg, Kentucky; Brother, Nelson Waid and sister, Nellie Hurley both of White Sulphur Springs, Wv;  Grandchildren; Sherry Romello, Sonya Adams, Darla Bell, Nicki Centers, Kenny Hurt, Kevin Hurt and Casey Hurt, David Bennett, Alan Bennett, Steele Fitzwater and Zachary Smith along with numerous great and great great grandchildren. Please join the family in celebrating sweet Alda's life, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 with Pastor Everette "Hat" Defibaugh officiating. The Family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Groves-Mann funeral home Chapel in Union, WV.
